What Is Breast Reduction?
Breast reduction is a surgical procedure that targets both aesthetic and functional improvement together. While the back and shoulder pain, postural issues, bra strap marks and activity restrictions caused by overly large breast tissue are reduced, a proportional and natural-looking breast shape is planned.
Op. Dr. Emre Yılmazer determines the appropriate technique for each patient based on breast tissue, skin elasticity and the patient's lifestyle requirements; scar length, areola position and tissue resection are planned individually.

How Is It Performed?
Breast Reduction planning begins with the joint evaluation of the patient's anatomy and expectations. The information below outlines the general framework; the final plan is determined on an individual basis.

General Anaesthesia
Performed in an accredited hospital, accompanied by an anaesthesiologist.
Duration
3 – 4 Hours
The amount of tissue resection and the technique affect the duration.
Technique Options
Vertical / Inverted-T (Wise pattern)
Selected according to scar length, tissue volume and skin elasticity.
Hospital Stay
1 Night Stay
An overnight stay is planned for comfort and observation.
Aftercare
Recovery Process
The timeline below is a general guide. Recovery time may vary depending on the individual, tissue structure and the technique applied. Regular follow-up checks are carried out throughout the entire process.
First 24 Hours
Hospital Observation
Dressings and a sports bra are applied. Mild tightness is an expected finding.
Week 1
Dressing Check-ups
Suture and drainage checks are carried out. Arms should not be raised above shoulder level.
Weeks 2 – 3
Return to Social Life
You can largely return to office routine. Use of the sports bra continues.
Weeks 6 – 8
Gradual Return to Sport
Use of the bra ends; the gradual transition to light sporting activities begins.
Month 6
Final Result Becomes Clear
Tissue swelling subsides; scars mature and the result becomes clear.

His medical journey, which began in 2008 with the English-language Medicine programme at Cerrahpaşa Faculty of Medicine, was shaped by plastic surgery. He completed his specialty training at Haydarpaşa Numune Training and Research Hospital, one of Turkey's long-established plastic surgery clinics, and then served for 2 years as a plastic surgery specialist at Erzurum City Hospital.
Since 2023 he has been practising at Yılmazer Clinic in Istanbul, guided by innovative technologies and a scientific approach. In Breast Reduction procedures, natural appearance, respect for proportions and functional continuity are the priority; a detailed analysis is carried out for each patient and the technical choices are planned individually.
